CAT | Be There
While I’m waiting for the sun to appear (they say it’s coming!), I am dreaming of a mini-break here. It seems you don’t need to go all the way to Hawaii for a super surf-y time.
People, something very exciting is happening. A new Nordstrom is opening at South Shore Plaza. As a member of the event committee for the Opening Gala, I’ve got the inside skinny. This will be a spectacular three level Nordstrom – the biggest in the Boston area. Why would you attend the gala? Here’s the top five:
- A first look at the fabulous store so you can plan your retail assault
- Tasty cocktails, dinner and dessert
- Entertainment by Nightshift (they’re awesome!)
- Onsite personal shopping and styling advice from your favorite personal shopper
- All proceeds go to benefit three great organizations: American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay, Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital
I am going to make it event by buying tickets for my girlfriends and renting a limo to take us down there. Click here for details and to buy your tickets now! It’ll feel good to do something to benefit these organizations and you get to go to great party. Details below.
Why haven’t I seen Tom Cruise? Apparently he eats at Abe & Louie’s nine million times a week and so do I. He also went to Sonsie. Me too! I was just there for coffee. And what about Sportello? I was there! It’s officially annoying. So, apparently if you want to see TomKat or Cameron or Jon Hamm or anyone good, do not hang out with me.

In other Conde Nast related news (see below) I just now finally found time to see The September Issue. It was amazing and if you haven’t seen it I recommend you do. Here’s why:
- It was hilarious. Natch, Anna Wintour and gang didn’t necessarily know they were being hilarious, but it’s cut brilliantly.
- Grace Coddington really does steal the show, just as reviews promised. She’s a treat to watch.
- It’s fun to see people cower in AW’s wake.
- AWs daughter demonstrates an age old truth about mothers and daughters in a priceless interview.
- There’s this interesting nugget – the most senior staffers (other than AW) don’t seem wear make up, or brush their hair, or in many cases even wear fabulous clothes everyday. The regular staffers still have to wear heels and have glossy hair.
- Thakoon is so cute.
- The clothes. Sigh.

Where Can I Wear This?

While in Vegas, my girlfriends sported the most amazing looks. The question of the day (or night, because it was Vegas, after all) became, “where can I wear this in my real life.” Oddly, the answer was always “Minibar.” Apparently it’s okay to wear all manner of spandex and sparkles there. (See yesterday’s post re: leggings) Inspired by this conversation, I expanded this thinking a little. After all, one can not exist on Minibar alone (the food is too tiny).
Dinner at Mistral

Brunch at Sel de la Terre

Business Lunch at Abe and Louie’s

Drinks at Drink

Tea at the Four Seasons

On a honeymoon, you know, if you happen to have one coming up.

There is a reason I didn’t post last week. This is where I have been since Vegas.

Now, I can really hardly wait for Jimmy Choo for H&M. Fresh off Vegas I am in the mood for sparkles and high drama dressing anyway and after seeing these pics on the internet it’s all I can do not to camp out until Nov 14 in front of my local H&M. I probably won’t though, as it turns out I have a few important events coming up between now and that I shouldn’t miss. Check out a few shots. And look here for more.

A friend drew my attention to a semi annual consignment sale that features designer children’s clothes. It’s coming up September 24, 25th, and 26th. Think Brimfield for tots. Check out the website for details.
Who needs more jeans? You do! Because not all jeans are created equal – styles and trends change, and fit and construction just keeps getting better. Right now, I am loving MiH (Made in Hollywood) Jeans. The “Marrakesh” style is my favorite – almost universally flattering, slimming, and with a mid-rise that both current and comfortable (ie no worries about your tushie resembling that of a plumber). And my friends at Dress are having a special event on Thursday September 17 just for MiH. Be there!
